The Garden Church grew out of a concern for the social, economic, physical and spiritual well-being of the forgotten, overlooked and neglected people living in the inner city of Columbus, Ohio. In 1996 a small group of committed Christians purchased the infamous Garden Burlesque Theater located in the Short North District of Columbus. The church was originally called The Columbus Worship Center. In 200? the name was changed to The Garden Church. In 2007 the theater properties were sold and TGC moved to its current location directly behind the old theater at 38 W. Greenwood Ave. This new facility has opened the door for many more opportunities to serve the community. We have recently opened the third floor’s newly remodeled Austin Family Life Center. Change is a consistent force at TGC. TGC has become recognized as a progressive leader in addressing the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of people mired in urban poverty, rescuing teens from the entrapment of a gang-infested culture, and providing meaningful support to distressed communities.
At TGC, history is constantly in the making from the changes in our facilities and services to –most importantly—changes in lives. Our hope and prayer is that you will come and check out what we are doing, with God’s help and guidance, in the Urban Columbus area.“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38
